No. 15 Women's Soccer Drops GLVC Match at Home to UIndy

Bearcats net two goals but unable to make final push

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's soccer dropped its first match of the season and had its eight-match unbeaten streak come to an end against the University of Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats' unbeaten streak began one game prior to the GLVC Tournament in the spring of 2021.

The first half of action led to a match knotted at null-to-null over 45 minutes. McKendree sent seven shots at the Hounds in the first half and 18 in the match, out-shooting UIndy in the contest.

In the second period of action, the Greyhounds took the lead quickly and decisively with three goals in the first 15 minutes via two goals from Sauceda and one from Hardie.

McKendree struck in the 70th minute behind sophomore midfielder Katie Spotanski and her second goal of the season, to cut the lead of the Hounds. Spotanski was followed by fellow sophomore and midfielder Reagan Mauch. Mauch recorded her second goal of the season as well as career-highs in shots and shots on goal with four. Spotanski also recorded career-highs in shots (4) and shots on goal (2).

When the final horn sounded, UIndy held off the 15th-ranked Bearcats to hand McKendree its first loss since last season (vs. UMSL - 4/9/2021).

There were six total cards handed out in the match between the Hounds and Bearcats.

NOTES:
McKendree lost its first match in the series with UIndy, previously being 6-0-4 against the Hounds. (since 2012)
