Men's Volleyball Posts 3-0 Sweep at King

BRISTOL, Tenn. - McKendree University men's volleyball posted their second win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of King on Friday night at the Student Center Complex on the campus of King University. With the win the Bearcats improved to 2-2 on the season. 

The Bearcats won 25-11, followed by a 25-20 win in set two and a 25-18 set three win to record their second win of the season and have won six straight sets. 

The biggest factor in tonight's match was the Bearcats recorded a season-high .468 hitting percentage while King only hit .042. The Bearcats also recorded 44 kills to King's 20. The Bearcats only had eight attack errors compared to King recording 17. 

McKendree was led by graduate student outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) who recorded a game-high 13 kills. Graduate student outside hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) added 12 kills. Redshirt senior middle blocker Tommy McGrath (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) had eight kills on a .615 hitting percentage in the match. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded 37 assists and added three kills. Freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele (Aurora, Ill./Saint Francis) added five kills. 

On the defensive side the Bearcats recorded a total of six blocks with McGrath recording four block assists. Ross added three block assists while Serrano and redshirt junior middle blocker Jacob Gall (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) each recorded two block assists. Senior libero Francisco Comas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) recorded a season high nine digs. Ross and Schuele each recorded six digs in the match. Schuele also added a block assist. 

King falls to 1-5 on the season. King was led by Suetonius Harris as he recorded nine kills of the 20 team kills.  

The Bearcats return to action looking for their third consecutive win on Saturday, Jan.28 in Harrogate, Tenn. against Lincoln Memorial at 4 p.m. eastern.
