BOLIVAR, Mo. - No.12 McKendree University women's soccer brought its win streak up to five with a 2-0 victory over Southwest Baptist on Friday evening, improving to 10-0-2 overall this fall and 6-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats were pushed to the win by junior forward
Destiny Johnson who fired her third goal of the year in the 10th minute of the conference contest. No.12 McKendree will be against Rockhurst on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.
The visiting-Bearcats were dominant in the game with 16 shots overall and 10 on frame against the hosting-Bearcats while earning six corners. McKendree managed to grab an early lead over SBU with Johnson scoring off a pass from fellow junior forward
Anna Stiffler. Johnson's goal ws her first score since the match against Kentucky Wesleyan (9/6) and her first point since her assist at Quincy (9/23). The assist by Stiffler marked her first assist of the season. McKendree held a 1-0 lead going into the halftime intermission.
In the 61st minute of the game, McKendree added its insurance score in the match with Stiffler firing her league-leading ninth goal of the fall. The junior forward took a pass from sophomore forward
Lena Higgins, putting it in the back of the net. The goal by Stiffler was her fifth-straight game with a score. Higgins dished-out her first assist of the season and her collegiate career.
Senior
Abby Tucker (10-0-2) earned her seventh shutout of the season in the Friday evening outing. Tucker grabbed three saves and lowered her goals allowed average to 0.43.
