FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference office announced Tuesday morning that graduate student opposite hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) was the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week.
It was Carroll's first career player of the week award after he led the Bearcats in both matches last week that saw the Bearcats split with the Lewis Flyers as Lewis won at home and McKendree picked up the home win on Saturday.
Carroll recorded 45 kills in the two matches against Lewis including a career-high 24 kills in the match on Thursday at Lewis. Carroll recorded nine kills in the second set on Thursday that featured the second highest scoring set in NCAA history. Carroll recorded a .294 hitting percentage at Lewis in the four-set loss.
In the five-set win Carroll recorded 21 kills for the Bearcats. Carroll averaged five kills per set over the nine sets played against the Flyers while averaging 5.33 points per set. Carroll also added two assists in the first match against Lewis. Carroll recorded 25 points and 23 points in the two matches with the 23 points coming in the home win against the Flyers.
The last Bearcat to be named MIVA Offensive Player of the Week was Zach Schnittker as he was named the Player of the Week for February 16, 2021.
Carroll will lead the Bearcats into their two matches this week as they play at Loyola Chicago on Thursday, March 24 and host Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, March 26.
