FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference office announced Tuesday morning that freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele (Aurora, Ill./Saint Francis) was the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week.
It was Schuele's first career player of the week award after he helped the Bearcats to a 2-0 record that saw the Bearcats take down No. 11 Loyola Chicago last Thursday in five sets at Gentile Arena to sweep the regular season series against Loyola and a four-set home win on Saturday against Purdue Fort Wayne.
Schuele recorded 16 kills in the five-set win against Loyola Chicago and then recorded 13 kills against Purdue Fort Wayne. In the win against Loyola, Schuele hit .464 while hitting .429 against Fort Wayne.
Schuele averaged 3.22 kills per set and 3.56 points per set over the two matches. For the week, Schuele hit .449 for the two matches. Schuele also recorded 32 points in the two matches with 16 points in each match.
The last Bearcat to be named MIVA Offensive Player of the Week was Ethan Carroll as he was Player of the Week for March 22, 2022.
The Bearcats return to action on Thursday, March 31 at Ball State at 6 p.m. central followed by a match at Ohio State on Saturday, April 2 at 5 p.m. central.
