No. 15 Men's Volleyball Falls 3-0 at No. 7 Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - McKendree University men's volleyball fell in three sets to No. 7 Ball State at Worthen Arena on Thursday night. 

The Bearcats fell 25-17, 27-25, and 25-20 to fall to 12-9 and 7-4 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association while the Cardinals improved to 18-2 and 10-1 in MIVA play. 

The Cardinals hit .367 in the match compared to the Bearcats .181. Ball State also had five aces while McKendree had two and Ball State also recorded 7.5 total team blocks while McKendree had 2.0 total team blocks. 

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by graduate student outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded 13 kills in the match. Graduate student opposite hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) recorded nine kills while freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele (Aurora, Ill./Saint Francis) added eight kills. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded 34 of the 37 assists for the Bearcats.  

Defensively, the Bearcats were led by Serrano as he had a team-high eight digs, while Ross and senior libero Francisco Comas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) each had six digs. Schuele added five digs in the match. 

Kaleb Jenness led the Cardinals with a game-high 15 kills while Angelos Mandilaris added 13 kills in the match. Mandilaris and Quinn Isaacson each added nine digs in the match. 

Notes: 

With the 13 kills Ross has moved in second all-time for career kills with 921 and is 12 away from tying Nolan Rueter (933 kills) and 13 kills from breaking the record. Ross will have the chance to break the record on Saturday against Ohio State.
