Bearcats Men's Volleyball Sweeps Quincy on Senior Day

Sanlin Picks Up 100th Career Win; Bearcats Record School Record 14th Win of the Season

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball picked up a 3-0 win on Senior Day against Quincy on Saturday evening at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. 

The 15th ranked Bearcats record 25-19 wins in sets one and two and won set three 25-21. The Bearcats improved to 14-10 and 9-5 in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play while Quincy fell to 4-18 and 0-14 in MIVA play. The 14 wins are the most in a single season for the Bearcats. 

The Bearcats hit .329 for the match while Quincy hit .087. The Bearcats also recorded six aces compared to three for the Hawks. McKendree also recorded 12.5 total team blocks including five solo blocks while Quincy had 5.0 total team blocks. 

Offensively, the Bearcats had four players with eight or more kills in the match. Graduate student opposite side hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) led the way with 10 kills while graduate student outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) added nine kills. Redshirt senior outside hitter Brendon Dunn (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame) and redshirt junior middle blocker Daniel Duggan (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) recorded eight kills each. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded 34 assists in the match. Carroll had three aces, Dunn had two aces and Serrano had the other ace. 

Carroll and Serrano led the way defensively with five digs each. Senior libero Francisco Comas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and Dunn added four digs apiece. Duggan recorded six blocks (one solo, five block assists) while Carroll had four block assists. Serrano added two solo blocks and one block assist. Redshirt senior middle blocker Tommy McGrath (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) recorded one solo block and two block assists.  

Quincy was led by Raje Alleyne as he recorded 10 kills for the Hawks. Francisco Salinger and Dominik Wagiel recorded five digs apiece. 

Notes: 

The second kill for Ross made him the second Bearcat to record 300 or more kills in a season as he currently sits at 307. With his third kill, Carroll became the third Bearcat to record 300 or more kills in a season.  

Head coach Nickie Sanlin recorded her 100th career win as the head coach of the men's program.

The Bearcats return to action next Saturday, April 16 in the MIVA Quarterfinals as they will host the No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons with the time still to be determined.
