INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University men's soccer (2-2-2) ridded itself of a two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 draw at No.25 Indianapolis' Key Stadium against the Hounds (2-1-2, 0-1-1). The Bearcats sole goal of the game was scored just 10 minutes in by freshman forward
Stephan Stuebbe, his third of the campaign. McKendree gets back into GLVC play on September 23 and 25 at Quincy and Illinois Springfield.
The Bearcats entered GLVC play on Friday, dropping its conference opener to Lewis on September 16. McKendree came back quickly against the Hounds, scoring in under 10 minutes with the freshman Stuebbe, the team leader in goals, firing his third score of the 2022 campaign and his collegiate career. The unassisted goal marked the first goal by the Bearcats since August 27, when they took down then-No.15 Lake Erie in Columbus, 2-0.
The Bearcats held off the Greyhounds for a short time but the No.25 Hounds struck back in the 15th minute via penalty kick goal, equalizing the matchup.
The game finished off with no more scoring as both teams battled for possession and scoring attempts. The Hounds out-shot McKendree, 16 to 12, but both squads had four shots on frame.
Stuebbe fired all four Bearcats' shots on goal while eight others fired one shot a piece.
Sophomore
Anthony Swenson spent full time in net for the Bearcats, making three saves in the effort.
