Men's Soccer Headed to Quincy, UIS for Road #GLVCmsoc Weekend

Bearcats look to regain traction in league play

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree Univeristy men's soccer (2-2-2, 0-1-1) is on the road for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups at Quincy (2-3-3, 0-2-1) on Friday, September 23, and at Illinois Springfield (2-3-1, 1-1-1) on Sunday, September 25. The Bearcats collected one point in the opening weekend of their GLVC slate with a 1-1 draw against the then-No.25 Indianapolis Greyhounds. McKendree will be seeking its first victory since beating then-No.15 Lake Erie on August 27. 

THIS SEASON
McKendree opened its 2022 campaign with a pair of victories in Ohio, beating Ohio Dominican, 2-0, and Lake Erie, 2-0. The Bearcats played to a 0-0 draw with Cedarville following its opening weekend to remain unbeaten. The Bearcats have held opposing attacks to just three goals while scoring five. Freshman forward Stephan Stuebbe leads the offense with three scores while freshman forward Dayton Strattman and freshman midfielder Gabe Hallsten each have one goal this season. 

Sophomore Anthony Swenson has held goal for full time so far with 13 saves and a goals allowed average of 0.50. Swenson ranks second in the league in goals allowed average (0.50) in 540 minutes in the net.

Quincy looks for its first conference win this fall, just like the Bearcats, as it tied its latest contest against Missouri S&T. The Hawks' offense has been outscored 17 to 12 this fall while Macker Little (3) and Kamou Harris (2) lead the attack. The Hawks' George Ashby owns the most points on the year with seven behind one goal and five dish-outs.

All-Time Series: 10-5-2, McK | Streak: McK, W1

UIS enters the weekend following its first win of the GLVC season, pushing its conference record to an even split at 1-1-1. The Prairie Stars have been led on offense by Lucas Harris with two goals while five others have fired a goal of their own. Max Tweddle is tied for the team lead in points (4) with Harris behind a goal and two assists this fall.
