LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's soccer (3-2-3, 1-1-2 GLVC) returns to Leemon Field and will look to gain ground in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings with home matches against Truman State (3-2-3, 2-1-2 GLVC) and William Jewell (2-1-2, 2-1-2 GLVC). The Bearcats ride a three-game unbeaten streak going into the weekend after tying with UIndy (9/18), defeating Quincy (9/23), and drawing with UIS (9/25). McKendree will face off against Truman on Friday, September 30, at 7:30 PM and then takes on William Jewell at Noon on Sunday, October 2.
THIS SEASON
McKendree has drawn in two of its conference games so far this season but defeated Quincy in a road game on September 23, beating the Hawks, 3-2, for its first league victory. The offesne for the Bearcats has been led by freshman forwards
Stephan Stuebbe and
Dayton Strattman. Stuebbe leads the effort with four goals and eight total points in the campaign while Strattman has fired two goals for the Bearcats. Three other Bearcats have fired a goal while three others have recorded assists. Sophomore midfielder
Philipp Schmidt ranks second on the team in points with five as he has dished out five assists on nine McKendree goals on the year.
The net has been held by two Bearcats during the 2022 campaign with sophomore
Anthony Swenson playing the vast majority in goal. Swenson has logged seven starts and seven played games with over 620 minutes. The sophomore owns a goals allowed average of 0.72 (5th in GLVC) while holding a save percentage of 0.762 (5th in GLVC). Freshman
Matt King has logged nearly 100 minutes in the net with one start and two game played. King has nabbed four saves with a save percentage of .800 during his time in goal.

The Bulldogs come to Lebanon after going 0-1-1 in their latest GLVC weekend, drawing with UMSL and dropping their Friday night game against Maryville. Truman has equaled its opponents this fall with eight goals scored and allowed while Mac Knudsen has led their attack. Knudsen owns a team-leading 11 points on five goals and one assist. Trailing Knudsen is Luke Payne and Sam Newton who each have two goals and multiple assists in the 2022 season. jack Knust and Payne lead in the assist category this fall with three each while Newton has two.
The last time these two programs met was October 2021 in Kirksville, when McKendree took the game in double-overtime behind a last-minute score from then-Bearcat forward
James Stone.Â

The Cardinals ride a four-game unbeaten streak into the weekend, defeating UMSL, 2-0, and drawing with Missouri S&T, 2-2, this past weekend. Jewell faces off against Maryville on Friday, September 30 prior to coming to Leemon Field. The Cardinals have been led by Carson Lee with three goals and six total points, while five other individuals have fired a goal. Five Cardinals have dished-out assists this fall with Walker Bond leading the way behind two assists while also scoring a goal for four total points.Â
McKendree handled Jewell during the last matchup in October 2021 at WJC, winning 5-2 over the Cardinals with five different Bearcats scoring and
Diego Tapia-Fraites scoring the eventual game-winning goal.
