Women's Soccer Closes out Non-Conference With Home and Away Matches

Bearcats Host KWC on Tuesday; Head to Missouri S&T on Friday

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's soccer (3-0-0) is set to play out its final two non-conference matchups with Kentucky Wesleyan (1-1-0) coming to Leemon Field on Tuesday, September 6, and heads out to Rolla, Missouri, on Friday, September 9 for a battle with Missouri S&T (0-1-1). McKendree enters the week undefeated after sneaking out a last-minute, 1-0, victory over Trevecca Nazarene on September 3 behind a score from sophomore forward Lena Higgins

On the year, McKendree has won behind four different goal-scorers and just one goal allowed to its opponents. The Bearcats began the season in Fayette, Iowa, beating Upper Iowa and Concordia St. Paul prior to returning Leemon Field for their home opener this past Saturday. McKendree then defended its home turf via late goal to remain unbeaten this year.

Junior forward Destiny Johnson leads with three points behind her one score and one dish-out while Higgins, junior midfielder Reagan Mauch, and junior forward Anna Stiffler each have two points with one score a piece. Senior defender Morgan Bova rounds-out the point earners as she dished out one assist on the year so far. Senior goalkeeper Abby Tucker owns a goals allowed average of 0.33 over her 270 minutes this year, collecting eight saves (2.67 per game).

PREVIEW vs. KWC

The series between KWC and McKendree comes back to Leemon Field after the programs played in Owensboro last season. The Panthers hold a 1-1-0 record on the year, dropping their first contest to Campbellsville (Ky.),5-0, but then defeating Berea, 13-0. KWC has been led by junior forward Bree Owen through their first two games as she owns nine points behind three goals and three assists so far. Just behind Owen is junior midfielder Kiersten Schuler, who also recorded a hat trick against Berea.

The Bearcats hold the series with a 5-0-0 advantage, also out-scoring the Panthers 15 to three all time.

PREVIEW @ Missouri S&T
All-Time Record: 8-3-1, McK

The Bearcats and Miners meet again this season for a non-conference matchup prior to starting Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Miners dropped their season opener to Grand Valley State, 3-0, while they tied Washburn, 0-0. Missouri S&T returned two All-GLVC performers this year with Sydney Gratz and Danielle Hopkins.

The Bearcats will look to regain momentum in the series between the programs as the Miners won the late-season conference contest, 1-0, in 2021.
