Women's Soccer (RV) Plays Out a Draw with Hounds

Bearcats unable to push through final winner, maintain regular season home streak

LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University women's soccer (RV) captured one point in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings with a 1-1 draw against the Greyhounds of Indianapolis at home on Sunday afternoon. With the tie, the Bearcats extended a multi-year streak as they are unbeaten in 18-straight home regular season contests. McKendree hits the road for its next weekend of games with pivotal matchups at Maryville on October 6 and at Missouri S&T on October 8.

McKendree controlled the game with possession in its attacking third throughout the first half. The Bearcats totaled six shots while earning four corners in the first 45 minutes of action, breaking the ice in the 20th minute of the game. Senior forward Anna Stiffler fired her fifth goal of the fall with a cross ball from junior forward Lena Higgins, to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bearcats looked to be ready to extend their lead in the game but were unable to add a second-half score. UIndy came back with a push, getting a call for a penalty kick attempt in the 72nd minute, which was converted to tie the game.

McKendree was unable to convert any of its final chances, leaving the contest in a draw.
