LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University women's soccer (9-1-3, 5-1-3 GLVC) tallied a third-straight win with a 4-0 victory on Senior Day, beating the Peacocks of Upper Iowa on its home turf. The Bearcats collected six points in the league standings while owning a regular season home unbeaten streak of 20 games (dating back to 2021). McKendree hits the road for its next two games, heading to Quincy on October 20 and Illinois Springfield on October 22.
McKendree started quick, leaving not doubt in the result, as senior forward
Anna Stiffler hit the game-winning score in the 11th minute off a cross from junior forward
Lena Higgins. The goal marked Stiffler's seventh of the campaign and her 37th career goal, one shy of tying McKendree's NCAA Division II mark of 38 currently held by former standout Sydnee Carroll. The Bearcats held a 1-0 advantage at the halftime intermission period.
In the second half, McKendree hit a stride, scoring three goals with the first coming in the 49th by senior midfielder
Katie Spotanski with the assist going to senior forward
Destiny Johnson. In the 60th minute of action, freshman
Maggie Gleckler got in on the scoring with a close-to-goal score with the assist being dished out by Higgins. The Bearcats rounded-out their scoring with a lengthy thrown-in by junior defender
Maria Voss, who put the ball deep in the box for junior forward
Gillian Nicholson. Nicholson turned and found the the back of the net, making the contest a 4-0 outing for McKendree.
