LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball is set to play two home Great Lakes Valley Conference games this coming weekend. On Friday, the Bearcats will face Maryville at 7 p.m. followed by a 4:30 p.m. match on Saturday against Missouri S&T.
McKendree holds a 10-9 overall record after a stellar 3-0 performance at the Midwest Region Crossover which featured teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In GLVC standings, McKendree ranks second as a team in digs, averaging 18.1 per set. Junior setter Amber Williams ranks amongst the top ten at seventh in assists (10.31 per set) and senior middle blocker Lauren McCurley also ranks seventh in blocks (1.00 per set).
The Saints sport a 13-7 overall record heading into this weekend's game with McKendree. In GLVC standings, Maryville ranks just above the Bearcats in digs at 18.77 per set. Senior libero Taylor Hasbrook leads the GLVC in digs with 5.43 digs per set.
The Miners sit at 11-8 and will face No.4 Missouri-St. Louis on Friday night before making the trip to McKendree on Saturday. In GLVC statistics, the Miners top the league in blocks at 2.21 per set. Middle blocker Madison Offerman ranks sixth in the GLVC for blocking (1.00 per set) while fellow middle blocker Shelby Ply is also sixth in hitting percentage (.345).
Friday's game will be McKendree volleyball's Breast Cancer Awareness game as well as Parents' Night. Saturday's game will be Alumni Day as a part of McKendree's Homecoming festivities.
