LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball fell to Maryville University in a three-set match on Friday night. The Bearcats move to 10-10 on the season as they prepare to take on Missouri S&T on Saturday.
The competitive match was highlighted early in the first set as senior opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser claimed her 1,000th career dig. Preusser ended the night with nine digs and two blocks.
Though the Bearcats did not make the match easy for Maryville, the Saints took the win in three sets by scores of 26-24, 25-22, and 25-19.
Two Bearcats gave double-double performances on the night. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Harris tallied 11 kills and 10 digs while junior setter Amber Williams delivered 33 assists and popped up 13 digs.
Sophomore libero Ashlyn Berczynski added 23 digs and senior middle blocker Lauren McCurley grabbed five blocks to aid the Bearcats' defensive efforts. McCurley also hit a team-high .462 percent for seven kills.
