LEBANON, Ill. – Week nine of the 2023 season sees the Bearcats battling the other Division II School in the Land of Lincoln with the Quincy University Hawks.

Series History
This is the series with the most history in the McKendree Bearcat football program. In the 24 games prior to this year, McKendree holds a 19-5 advantage, including a 7-4 record in Quincy. The last two games between the Hawks and Bearcats have been high scoring affairs and 20-plus point comebacks by the visiting teams.
National Recognition
Junior punter
Kaleb Barry has picked up national recognition for his performance against the Missouri S&T Miners. Not only did he win the GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week, but he was also named the D2football.com Special Teams Player of the Week. In the victory over the Miners, Barry booted six punts for an average of 43.5 yards, including a career long of 73 yards that was downed at the S&T one yard line.
Scouting the Bearcats
After a three-point win over the Miners last week on Homecoming, the Bearcats (2-5, 2-2 GLVC) hit the road again to head to the Gem City. McKendree led 14-7 at the half and posted a shutout in the 4
th quarter.
Caleb Fisher leads the offense with 121 of 191 passing for 1,035 yards and nine touchdowns. After finding the end zone twice last week,
Eddie Clark leads the way with three touchdowns and 322 yards on 86 carries. Fisher's favorite target has been
Yogi Flager, Jr. who has 406 yards on 41 catches and five touchdowns.
Scouting the Hawks
Using a schedule that is home contest heavy, the Hawks have posted an overall record of 5-3 (2-2 GLVC). This is the first time since the 2019 season which QU has posted five wins in a season. Last week, they hosted the 14
th ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds. After being tied at the half, UIndy outscored the Hawks 17-7 in the second half.
The Hawks are averaging 42 points per game, which leads the GLVC and ranks them top 10 nationally. Contributing to that is the defense as they have scored four touchdowns which is third most in the nation.
Drake Davis has completed 123 of 198 passes for 1,619 yards, while throwing for 16 touchdowns. His backup Ike Wiley has seen action in four games and completed 11 of his 20 pass attempts for 142 yards. On the ground, QU has used a trio of running backs who have 50 or more carries. JQ Brown leads the way with 81 carries for 511 yards and ten touchdowns. Marlin Washington has been the top target with 36 catches for 534 yards.
