ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball opened the weekend with a conference contest against Lewis University, falling to the Flyers 3-1. The Bearcats move to 7-8 on the season and 0-4 against GLVC opponents.
McKendree came out strong with a 25-22 win in the first set as the Bearcats recorded a .314 hitting percentage. Lewis bounced back quickly, taking three sets in a row 25-18, 25-18, and 25-19.
Three Bearcats recorded double-doubles in the four-set match including junior setter Amber Williams, senior opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser, and sophomore outside hitter Lauren Harris. William notched 37 assists and 16 digs while Harris tallied 12 kills and 15 digs and Preusser posted 11 kills and 17 digs. Freshman Hannah Watson and Williams each delivered three aces.
Junior libero Keely Davis and sophomore defensive specialist Ashlyn Berczynski added to the defensive effort with 18 and 16 digs, respectively.
The Bearcats continue conference play on the road with a match at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday at 2 p.m.
