ROLLA, Mo. | Missouri S&T Soccer Field - McKendree University men's soccer (6-1-4, 4-1-2 GLVC) tallied four points overall on the weekend with a dominant 3-0 win over the Miners on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats grabbed a point at No.24 Maryville on Friday afternoon with a 0-0 draw before the Sunday victory. McKendree returns home for its next Great Lakes Valley Conference weekend with Truman State and Upper Iowa making the trip to Leemon.
McKendree looked to continue grabbing points in the league standings on Sunday and did just that in an impressive fashion scoring early and not letting up late. The Bearcats broke through with a score in the 25th minute as sophomore defender
Luis Edmondson fired his shot into the net, his first of the fall. McKendree totaled just three shots in the first half but made the most of those attempts.
The intermission found the Bearcats up 1-0 on the Miners and they looked for insurance scores following halftime. In the 67th minute, senior defender
Matteo Schubert dished-out a ball, finding frehsman forward
Fred Nielsen, who subsequently found the net for his first collegiate goal. McKendree led 2-0 following the career-first score.
McKendree held the lead and found a third and final score in the 90th minute of action as frehsman midfielder
Jay Sangha fired his second score of the campaign.
Freshman goalkeeper
Christian Herluf gained his fifth shutout while playing full-time in net.
