LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball fell to Ferris State University on Saturday evening in their final game of the GLVC/GMAC Crossover Tournament. The Bearcats are 1-1 on the season heading into the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Classic next week.
Both sides saw a physical game with high pressure, resulting in 43 fouls and 35 free throws between both teams. After a first half score of 37-31 in favor of the Bulldogs, Ferris State poured on the offense to extend their lead to 61-38. Ultimately, the Bearcats could not climb from the deficit, ending in a score of 77-51.
Junior guard Clare Breden led the Bearcats in scoring for the second consecutive game, posting 19 points. On the boards, senior guards Christy Fortune and Maclayne Taylor each snagged four. Taylor also added five assists. As a team, McKendree shot 42.2 percent from the field, sinking 19 of 45 field goals.
Up next, the Bearcats travel to Quincy on Nov.17-18 to take on Washburn University and Hillsdale College in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Classic at Pepsi Arena.
