O'Fallon, Ill. | McKendree Metro Rec Plex - Sixth-ranked McKendree University women's hockey (8-5-1) fell 3-0 to No.5 Michigan on Sunday afternoon on their home ice. The Bearcats defeated the fourth-ranked Bulldogs of Adrian prior to the Sunday contest. McKendree finishes its first semester competition on November 17 at home against Colorado State with a 2 PM puck drop.
The Bearcats blasted out of the gate in the weekend finale with 17 shots in the first period compared to just three for the visiting Wolverines. McKendree and Michigan were both unable to connect on their respective attempts over the first 20 minutes of action.
Michigan added the eventual game-winning score over McKendree in the final minutes of the second period via power play. McKendree was under a 1-0 deficit entering the second intermission period. Michigan added two solo goals against the Bearcats in the third and final period, taking the game 3-0.
McKendree vastly out-shot the Wolverines, 42-21, but could not convert the chances to take out fifth-ranked Michigan. Sophomore goaltender
Rachel Staresinic recorded full-time in net, collecting 18 saves in the effort.

McKendree women's hockey is back at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex this Friday with a 2 PM puck drop against Colorado State. The Bearcats conclude their first semester slate with the contest against the Rams, with action picking back up in January.
The first games in January pit the Bearcats against a trio of tough teams with Arizona Stae, Michigan State, and UMass all making the trip to the metro.
