LEBANON, Ill. – Opening the home portion of the 2023-24 schedule, the Bearcats battled the Blackburn College Beavers on Saturday, November 18th. Behind five different guys in double figures, McKendree collected the win by the score of 99-58. This is the fourth consecutive home opener in which the Bearcats have been victorious.
Milos Vicentic led the way with a game-high 26 points on 13 of 19 from the field. The Belgrade, Serbia native posted 20 of those points in the first half. Caleb Zurliene and Hayden Meakes posted 13 points apiece. Meakes' performance came off the bench in 19 minutes of action. He was an efficient 5 of 7 from the field. Zurliene also pulled down a team high seven boards.
Also off the bench in double figures was Kevin Stein chipped in with 12 points and Malcolm Davis posted 10. Davis was a perfect 4 of 4 from the field.
As a team, the Bearcats shot 42 of 64 for 65.6 percent. The last time the program made 42 or more field goals was January 30, 2020 against the Lindenwood Lions when they went 42 for 72. It's also been two seasons since they shot 65 percent or better from the field, January 20, 2022 against Quincy when they shot 66.7 percent.
McKendree will hit the road as they travel to Big Rapids, Michigan to battle the Ferris State University Bulldogs with tip scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
