LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball improved to 13-12 on Saturday with a three-set win over the University of Illinois-Springfield. The win followed the Bearcats' stellar performance against No.20-ranked Quincy on Friday night, defeating the Hawks in five sets.
McKendree also celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, honoring four graduating seniors: outside hitter Brianna Binder, middle blockers Claire Diercks and Lauren McCurley, and defensive specialist Maddie Misner.
McKendree swept Illinois-Springfield with scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23. Junior setter Amber Williams tallied another double-double for the season with 36 assists and 14 digs. Senior opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser led all kill totals for the game, posting 18. Sophomore outside hitter Destiny Gray added 10 kills in the win.
In addition to Williams, three Bearcats captured double-figure digs including Misner (15), sophomore outside hitter Lauren Harris (15), and sophomore libero Ashlyn Berczynski (11). Preusser, McCurley, and Diercks accounted for three blocks each.
Coming up, the Bearcats are on the road for their last pair of regular season games next weekend against Southwest Baptist and Drury.
