INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University softball's freshman infielder Lauren Harris earned her second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week award following McKendree's 5-1 outing at the Independence Bank Blue Ridge Battle in Evansville, Ind. The league announced Harris's honor on Monday.
On the weekend, Harris was 12-for-20 (.600) from the plate, including two doubles for slugging percentage of .700. Against Kentucky Wesleyan, Harris was 3-for-4, hitting one double and driving in four RBI. Over the six games, Harris batted in nine total runs and scored three for Mckendree.
The award marks Harris's second of her career as she was honored last week on Feb. 20.
Harris and the Bearcats will be back in action this coming weekend at the University of Illinois-Springfield Invitational held at the Spartan Sports Park in Chatham, Ill. McKendree kicks off the tournament on Saturday against Davenport University at 12 p.m. The Bearcats' home opener against Wisconsin-Parkside on March 3 has been cancelled.
