Lebanon, IL - The 18th-ranked McKendree University Softball team added more in-season honors on Monday when it was announced that senior pitcher
Sami Huck won her second GLVC Pitcher of the Week. A 2-0 week and a nearly blemish-free line for wins at Missouri S&T and Lincoln warranted Huck garnering either national or conference recognition for the third time this season.
The #18 Bearcats were on the road for four GLVC games over the past week. McKendree split a pair of low-scoring bouts with Missouri S&T (Won 1-0 and Lost 1-2). In that series, Huck threw in the 1-0 victory, getting a complete game two-hitter, walking three, striking out seven, and holding the Miners to a mere .091 batting average against.
The Bearcats then swept the doubleheader from Lincoln, winning in run-rule fashion both times, with scores of 8-0 and 12-4. Huck would pitch in the 8-0 winner in game one. Despite stats being limited due to the five-inning run rule, Huck still held the Blue Tigers to two hits, didn't walk a batter, struck out six, and held Lincoln to a .125 batting average against.
For the season, Huck is currently (13-5) with a 2.26 earned run average, 140 strikeouts, and a .210 batting average against.
McKendree returns to action this Friday with their lone games of the weekend, a doubleheader on Friday, April 3rd at Rockhurst, with game one's first pitch set for 12:00 PM.
