SMITHVILLE, Mo. – Decided by a tiebreaker after 18 holes between the Bearcats and Missouri – St. Louis Tritons in the GLVC match play final. The tiebreaker was the cumulative score of the five scores from the match. Winnings its first Great Lakes Valley Conference title in program history with the team score of 367 to UMSL's 375, the McKendree University Bearcats.
Going back to the semifinal match against the Missouri S&T Miners, which got started at 8:00 a.m. from the 10th tee. The Bearcats defeated the Miners 3-1-1. Thomas Tollefsen gave the Bearcats the first victory of the match as he won by 3 strokes. Both Fabian Wennerlof and Griffin St. Pierre were dominant in their matches as they closed out 6 stroke victories. Rasmus Nilsson came from 2 shots down with 2 to play to tie the tournament medalist, which sealed the semifinal victory.
In the championship match against the top-seeded Tritons, received a 2 shot victory by Wennerlof and a massive 10 stroke win by Phasin Vichitcharoenpaisarn. St. Pierre played to a draw in the decisive 5th match.
The Bearcats' season will continue in the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional in Winona, Minnesota at the Bridges Golf Club with their automatic bid.
