BOLIVER, Mo. – In the middle of an 8 game road trip, it was a battle of the Bearcats on Saturday, April 15th at Southwest Baptist. McKendree took game one of the doubleheader by the score of 8-0, but dropped the nightcap 9-6.
Game 1
After a quiet first two innings, Lauren Harris doubled to left center to bring home Haven Lawrence. The next batter, Skyler Davis took advantage of an SBU error that let Harris score from 2nd to give McKendree the 2-0 lead. Reagan Cheely capped off the three-run inning by singling to left field, which scored Davis from 2nd.
In the top of the 4th, McK loaded the bases with one out and Harris deposited a ball over the left field fence for a grand slam, making it 7-0 McKendree. Olivia Stansbury hit a solo shot to right field to lead off the top of the 5th which gave McKendree the 8-0 lead.
Ellie Quaethem was stellar in the circle, improving to 15-8 on the year, as she faced 2 batters over the minimum, striking out 8 and allowing one hit.

Game 2
After not being able to push runners home in the opening innings, Skyler Davis and Olivia Stansbury both hit solo home runs in the top half of the 3rd to give McKendree the 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, SBU proceeded to score 8 unanswered runs, including a grand slam in the bottom of the 4th.
McK would push 4 runs on 2 hits and an error in the top of the 5th to back within a couple of runs. Haven Lawrence scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. Then, Cheely hit a 3-run home run to left field to clear the bases. SBU capped off the scoring with an insurance run on an RBI double in the 5th inning.
The game was called in the 6th inning to due to inclement weather in the Boliver area.
