KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Bearcats got some late inning offense in the opening game at Rockhurst to win by the score of 3-2, but would fall 8-4 in the nightcap.
Game 1
With one out in top of the 2nd, Olivia Stansbury hit her 3rd home run of the weekend to the Bearcats on the board first. The score would stay the same until the 4th inning, when Rockhurst plated 2 runs on two RBI singles, both to left field.
Reegan Cheely tied the game at 2 in the top of the 6th with a double down the left field line scoring Lauren Harris. The next batter, Stansbury singled to center field which brought home Cheely to give McKendree the lead for good.
Despite giving up 11 hits, Ellie Quaethem struck out 12 Hawks and only allowed 2 runs for the win.

Game 2
Cheely got the Bearcats on the board in the top of the 1st as she reached on a Hawk error that let Harris score. Rockhurst answered with 6 runs on 5 hits and an error in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.
The score would remain the same until the top of the 4th, when Haven Lawrence hit an RBI double to center field scoring Kinsey Vergason. After a wild pitch, Harris doubled to right center which scored Lawrence from 3rd to make it a 6-3 game.
Rockhurst added a couple of insurance runs in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single and double in back-to-back at-bats.
Stansbury blasted her fourth home run of the weekend and team leading 13th of the season to right field in the top of the 7th.
Sophia Koesterer fell to 6-5 on the season as she pitched the complete game giving up all 8 hits on 9 hits. She also struck out 6 batters.
