LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball went 1-1 on the second and final day of the McKendree Invitational on Saturday, defeating Harding University and falling to Missouri-St. Louis. The Bearcats moved to 7-4 on the season as they prepare to begin conference play next week.
In game one, McKendree sealed the victory in three sets by scores of 27-25, 25-22, and 25-23. The Bearcats were led by sophomore outside hitter Destiny Gray who notched 16 kills and junior setter Amber Williams who tallied another double-double with 31 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore libero Keely Davis also posted 15 digs in the win.
Against Missouri-St. Louis, the Bearcats put up a good three-set fight, though the Tritons would prevail 25-19, 31-29, and 25-19. Senior opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser collected a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. Davis and sophomore defensive specialist Ashlyn Berczynski were also in double-digit digs with 15 and 10, respectively.
The Bearcats are back at home on Friday, Sept. 22 with a 6 p.m. match against Rockhurst followed by a match on Saturday, Sept. 23 against William Jewell at 3 p.m.
