LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball dropped a hard-fought contest against Rockhurst University on Friday night in its first Great Lakes Valley Conference game of the season. The Bearcats move to 7-5 overall on the season and 0-1 in conference play as they will look to get their first conference win tomorrow against William Jewell College.
The Hawks claimed the win in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-17 to improve their overall record to 10-1 and 1-0 in the GLVC.
Sophomore outside hitter Destiny Gray was in double-digit kills for the Bearcats with 11 followed by nine kills from senior opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser.
Defensively, Preusser, junior libero Keely Davis, and sophomore defensive specialist Ashlyn Berczynski tallied 10 digs each. Senior middle blocker Lauren McCurley and junior setter Amber Williams each snagged four blocks, earning one and two solo blocks respectively.
The Bearcats return to the Melvin Price Convocation Center on Saturday, September 23 for another GLVC match against William Jewell at 3 p.m.
