MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - McKendree University men's water polo opened the Salem invitational with wins over Penn State Behrend College and Mount St. Mary's University (Md.).
The Bearcats won their first match of the year defeating the Penn State Behrend College lions 19-4. After getting out to a quick 5-0 start, there was no looking back for the Bearcats. A 9-1 lead at halftime ballooned into a 15 goal win pioneered by senior Breno Tebet who led the way scoring four goals.
In the evening match, McKendree defeated Mount St. Mary's University (Md.). by a score of 15-8. After a tightly contested first quarter, the Bearcat defense stepped up allowing the offense to secure a 9-6 lead at the half, and hold the Lions to just two goals the whole second half. Tebet continued his scoring output adding four more individual goals to the stat sheet.
The Bearcats conclude the weekend with matches against the United States Naval Academy and Washington and Jefferson College.
