SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time in as many years, the McKendree University Bearcats knocked off the University of Missouri – St. Louis Tritons at the Mark Twain Building. The Bearcats came away with the 83-78 victory on Saturday, January 13th.
In a game that was tightly contested where there were five lead changes, the Bearcats shot 28-of-50 from the field for 56%. They were also 8-of-18 from beyond the arc and 19-of-26 from the charity stripe, including 16-of-18 in the second half.
McKendree took care of the ball as they committed a season-low eight turnovers.
Senior Caleb Zurliene and junior Milos Vicentic led the Bearcats with 28 points apiece. Zurliene was 12-of-16 from the field. He was difference maker on the defensive end of the floor as he blocked five Triton shots and dished out four assists. Vicentic was an effective 9-of-16 from the field, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.
In the final minute, McKendree made their free throws with them going a perfect 6-of-6 to secure the GLVC win.
The Bearcats will remain on the road next week as they travel to Romeoville, Illinois to take on the Lewis Flyers on Thursday, January 18th with tip off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
