IRVINE, Calif. - McKendree University men's volleyball played its season opener on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the University of California, Irvine. The Bearcats fell to the Anteaters in three sets.  

Although both teams were plagued by missed serves, UC Irvine was able to pull away with three straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, and 25-16.  

McKendree was led in kills by graduate student outside hitter Kyle Wilson and sophomore Bryce Wetjen with six kills apiece. Redshirt sophomore libero Yadiel Diaz topped the digs with five.  

Up next, the Bearcats continue their west coast trip with a two-game bout at Pepperdine University on Friday and Saturday.
