MALIBU, Calif. - McKendree University men's volleyball played two games at Pepperdine as part of their season-opening California trip. The Bearcats fell to the Waves 3-1 and 3-0 after several close sets.
Game 1 – Pepperdine 3, McKendree 1
In the first game, Pepperdine took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20 before the Bearcats would win a set of their own, 25-22. A close fourth set ended with the Waves just ahead, 25-22.
Graduate outside hitter Kyle Wilson put down a career-high 23 kills and led the Bearcats with two service aces. Sophomore middle blocker Rolen Lively was also in double figures with 11 kills.
Defensively, redshirt junior right side hitter Nikos Xydakis and junior outside hitter Kevin Schuele snagged eight digs apiece. Lively and junior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney topped the blocks with four and three respectively.
Game 2 – Pepperdine 3, McKendree 0
On Saturday, the Bearcats played three close sets with the Waves, falling 25-19, 25-23, and 25-23.
Wilson was top of the kills list again for McKendree, landing 11 kills for the day and tallying eight digs. Xydakis was right behind Wilson with 10 kills and the Bearcats' lone service ace.
