LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball captured its first win of the season on Friday night against King University (Tennessee). The Bearcats swept the Tornado in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-17.
Graduate student outside hitter Kyle Wilson led the Bearcats with 16 kills and nine digs. Junior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney snagged four blocks on the day, three assisted and one solo. Leading McKendree in hitting percentage was sophomore Aric Olson who hit a perfect 1.000 percent. Redshirt senior setter Tyler Poulsen tallied 28 assists for McKendree.
As a team, McKendree outhit King 40 kills to 27 kills and topped the blocks 8.0 to 5.0. The Bearcats also hit .300 percent while the Tornado hit .103 percent.
Coming up, the Bearcats are on the road at nearby Maryville University on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a 7 p.m. match.
