Breden, McDaniel Combine for 48 in Second Straight Overtime Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University women's basketball pulled off another big overtime win this week, defeating the University of Indianapolis 95-92 on the road. The Bearcats improved to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in conference play to remain in the top spot of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Earlier this week, McKendree took down the other top contender in the conference, Lewis, in overtime 71-69.

The 95 points scored by the Bearcats was their highest number of points scored in a game this season, due in part to McKendree shooting 46 percent from the field, 47 percent from beyond the arc, and sinking 28-of-34 free throws.

After four quarters of regulation, the teams were knotted at 85 points, though the Bearcats would hold off the Greyhounds to end the game with the three-point advantage.

Junior guard Clare Breden tied her season high of 27 points while senior forward Naomi McDaniel added a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds in addition to a career-high five blocks. Two more Bearcats were in double figures including senior guard Madyson Harper with 18 and sophomore guard Georgia Duncan with 10. Duncan was a perfect 2-for-2 from the three-point line and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

"Winning on the road in the GLVC is a tough task, and our players continue to find a way," said McKendree head coach Kari Kerkhoff. "I loved our aggressiveness getting to the basket while finishing from free throw line. Everyone made an impact, and it's a great team win."

The Bearcats are back at home next week as they face Maryville on Thursday night and Missouri S&T on Saturday.
