LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball fell to Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Maryville University on Thursday night. The Bearcats move to 14-4 on the season and 10-2 in conference play.
The two teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, each putting up 20 points. The Saints forged ahead in quarter two, scoring 24 points to set the halftime score 44-34. Maryville held a consistent offense in the second half; despite a 24-point quarter from the Bearcats in the third period of play, McKendree fell by a score of 87-72.
McKendree was led in scoring by senior forward Naomi McDaniel with 17 followed by junior guard Clare Breden and senior guard Madyson Harper with 15 points each. McDaniel snagged four of the team's eight total blocks while Harper topped the assists list with six.
Coming up, the Bearcats are in action again at home on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Missouri S&T at 1 p.m.
