LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball played another home conference game on Saturday afternoon, falling to Missouri S&T 76-69. The Bearcats move to 14-5 overall and 10-3 against Great Lakes Valley Conference as they prepare for a two-game road trip next week.
The Bearcats and Miners stuck close through 40 minutes of play as neither team led by more than 10 points. At the half, McKendree led 30-26 though the Miners would have a 49-point second half to slip past the Bearcats 76-69.
Among the highlights for the game was a milestone by junior guard Clare Breden as she reached 1,000 career points at McKendree. She led all scored on the day with 25 points. Senior guards Erin Golden and Maclayne Taylor were also in double figures for the Bearcats, netting 12 and 10 points respectively. Senior forward Naomi McDaniel led with eight rebounds while Taylor dished a team-high seven assists.
Up next, the Bearcats hit the road for two GLVC contests, first on Thursday, Feb. 1 at Truman State University followed by Upper Iowa University on Saturday, Feb. 3.
