LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - Seventh-ranked McKendree University men's soccer (8-0-3, 5-0-3 GLVC) remained unbeaten after Friday night's battle with the Maryville Saints as the two squads played to a 0-0 draw. McKendree and sophomore goalkeeper
Christian Herluf recorded an eighth clean sheet of the season with the result while Herluf tallied his 22nd career shutout. The Bearcats remain at home for their next two games with a match up against Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday, October 13 and then a Friday night bout versus Illinois Springfield on October 18.
The game was a possession battle over all else with the seventh-ranked Bearcats and the Saints playing through the middle third of the field. McKendree mustered one shot in each half with the Saints firing 12 total shots. McKendree's defense and control proved to be the difference-maker as the Bearcats negated the long-ball offense of visiting Maryville.
Herluf collected four saves in the draw, pushing McKendree to their eighth shutout of the year while tallying his 22nd career clean sheet. He currently sits second all-time in program history in shutouts as former Bearcat keeper Alvaro Cortazar holds the record at 24.
