LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - Seventh-ranked McKendree University men's soccer (8-0-4. 5-0-4 GLVC) kept its unbeaten season on Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 tie versus Missouri-St. Louis. The Bearcats leveled the game in the 43rd minute of the contest as senior midfielder
Philipp Schmidt found the back of the net as the equalizer. McKendree remains at home for its next outing with Illinois Springfield making its way to Leemon Field on October 18 for a 7:30PM kick.
No.7 McKendree went down early in the first half following a flurry in front of the Bearcats' goal with UMSL gaining a 1-0 advantage. After the initial deficit, McKendree fought head first through the Tritons' defense, gaining chances consistently through the rest of the half. In the latter minutes of the first half, McKendree found its opportunity with a foul in the box and Schmidt taking a penalty shot. The senior midfielder fired his PK attempt and then rebounded the saved shot, heading it into the back of the net, equalizing the game.
The game then went back and forth through the second half with null scoring between the two squads.
