Women's Volleyball Goes Undefeated In Midwest Region Crossover

HAMMOND, Ind. - McKendree University women's volleyball went three-for-three on the weekend for the second time in program history at the Midwest Region Crossover. The Bearcats improve to an overall record of 7-11 on the season.

The Bearcats started the morning by completing a three-set triumph over the Storm with scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-18. 

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by junior outside hitter Destiny Gray with 13 kills. Freshman duo middle blocker Avery Guisinger and outside hitter Isabella Eskierka had nine kills each, and junior middle blocker Hannah Kampwerth chipped in with eight. Junior libero Ashlyn Berczynski led the team defensively with 14 digs. Senior setter Amber Williams added 34 assists.

In the last game of the tournament against Roosevelt University, McKendree took down the Lakers in four sets. The Bearcats started strong, taking the first set with a score of 25-14, but in the second set, the Lakers came out on top with a score of 25-21. The Bearcats came out with energy in the last two sets, taking the match with scores of 25-14 and 25-23. 

McKendree had two Bearcats record double-doubles. Gray notched in 12 kills and 13 digs, while Williams tallied 37 assists and 11 digs. Eskierka recorded a career-high 12 kills, and Kampwerth tied her career-high in kills with 11. 

The Bearcats are back to Great Lakes Valley Conference play next Friday, Oct. 25 as they take on Missouri S&T and Maryville the next day.
