Series History
The Bearcats and the Miners have a long history of competing on the field. Dating back to 1924, S&T holds the 14-6 lead. McKendree currently holds a two-game win streak in the series, including last year's 20-17 win at Leemon Field.
Record Book Watch
Redshirt senior wide receiver Yogi Flager, Jr. currently sits second in career receptions (158) and in career receiving yards (2,104). He needs 73 yards to pass Jacob Bachman for the program lead.
Andrew Sherry currently sits at 204 tackles for his career and is just 12 shy of breaking into the top 10, surpassing his current head coach, Jason Rejfek.
Scouting the Bearcats
Coming off a 28-21 win at Truman State last week, McKendree improved their record to 4-4 (3-2 GLVC) and currently sits tied for 3rd in the GLVC standings. Eddie Clark scored the first two touchdowns to raise his total 11 on the season. That mark has him leading the conference and sitting fourth in Division II. The other two touchdowns were catches by Jaylen Ford for his first two of the season.
Quarterback Ty Michael has completed 57% of his passes for 1,798 yards and 12 touchdowns. Yogi Flager, Jr. is his top target with 42 catches for 554 yards and five touchdowns. Along with his 11 touchdowns, Clark has racked up 699 yards on 158 carries for an average of 87.4 yards per game.
Leading the defense is Andrew Sherry with 59 total tackles and five interceptions. As a team, McKendree has picked off 14 passes which leads the conference and sits fourth in DII.
Scouting the Miners
The Miners share the same record as the Bearcats (4-4, 3-2 GLVC) after their blowout win over Lincoln (Mo.) last week. A one score game at the half, turned into a defensive shutout in the second half and 35 unanswered points by the Miners.
Tyler Giola has completed 113 of 209 passes for 13 touchdowns and 1,664 yards. He has also thrown four interceptions. The top target is CJ Wiggins with 33 catches for 605 yards and six scores. On the ground, AJ Harris has 483 yards on 117 carries with six touchdowns.
