JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Ninth-ranked McKendree University men's soccer (7-0-2, 4-0-2 GLVC) added another true road win to its resume plus a shutout for the Bearcats as they took out Lincoln on Friday night on a 1-0 result. The Bearcats scored in the opening two minutes, with freshman midfielder
Matthaeus Hirschmann firing a goal, never looking back after the lead. McKendree stays on the road for another battle, this time at Missouri S&T on October 6 at 2:30PM before coming back to its home field next weekend.
The opening two minutes proved to be the difference-maker for the Bearcats with freshman midfielder
Matthaeus Hirschmann firing the eventual game-winner at the 1:25 mark. The goal marks Hirschmann's third of the campaign and the first game-winning goal of his career.
Following the Bearcats taking the lead, the ninth-ranked McKendree squad played a very defensive-minded game, holding possession and only firing three total shots. Lincoln pushed back to try and tie the game with 16 shots and five on-frame but with sophomore goalkeeper
Christian Herluf in net, all five on-frame attempts were thwarted.
McKendree held its lead and took the contest, 1-0, to stay unbeaten on the 2024 campaign.
