Bearcats face off against a familiar foe in 2-Seed Maryville

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | NCAA - McKendree University women's soccer (16-4-1, 10-3-1 GLVC) earned its way into an eighth-straight NCAA Tournament berth on Monday as the Bearcats claimed the 7-Seed in the Midwest Regional and will face off against 2-Seed Maryville on November 22. The Bearcats will take on their crosstown conference foe in the second-seeded Saints, with who they played to a 1-1 draw earlier this season. The Bearcats and Saints are two of four GLVC representatives in the national tournament as Missouri-St. Louis also will play in Chesterfield while Drury heads up to Ashland in the top half of the Midwest Region bracket. McKendree will look for its first NCAA tournament victory since 2019 in the opening round against Maryville, taking on the Saints at 1:00PM on Friday at the Maryville Soccer Complex.

The Bearcats tally their eighth-straight national tournament appearance behind their selection on Monday evening, keeping up an impressive run for the Bearcats. McKendree pushed their way into the GLVC Championship game by ousting Drury 2-1 before dropping the title defense attempt. The squad also put up a ninth-straight campaign with 12-plus victories this year, matching last season's total already with multiple wins over regionally ranked adversaries in both the Midwest and South Regions. Prior to the semifinal win over Drury, six individuals earned postseason honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference with forward Maddie Mauch collecting Freshman of the Year while senior forward Anna Stiffler amassed her fourth-straight First Team nod. Senior forward Lena Higgins and senior midfielder Katie Spotanski each added Second Team selections while senior defender Maria Voss and sophomore midfielder Maggie Gleckler both got Third Team recognition.
