Women's Volleyball to Compete in GLVC Tournament; First Time Since 2018

WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. - The McKendree University women's volleyball team made it to the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament after taking down Drury and Southwest Baptist over the weekend.

No. 8-seeded McKendree will take on top-seeded Quincy University at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November at Williamsville High School. This will be McKendree's first appearance in the tournament since 2018.

The last matchup between the Bearcats and Hawks was earlier this month on Nov. 9 at the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill. The Hawks won in four sets, with McKendree winning the third set with a score of 25-23.

Offensively, the Bearcats are led by junior outside hitter Destiny Gray with 3.64 kills per set and graduate student right side Colleen Preusser with 2.80 kills per set. Senior setter Amber Williams is leading McKendree in assists with 9.40 per set and is ranked No. 6 in the GLVC. Leading the way defensively for the Bearcats are Preusser with 3.69 digs per set and junior libero Ashlyn Berczynski with 3.64 digs per set. Freshman middle blocker Avery Guisinger dominates in blocks for the Bearcats with 0.90 per set.

The Hawks are currently led by right side Emma Wijnbergen with 5.29 kills per set and outside hitter Janelle Pye-Blacknard with 3.76 digs per set. Setter Elena Kasavica leads the team in assists with 11.99 per set.
