Rebelo Selected as WWPA Offensive Player of the Week

LEBANON, Ill. - Women's water polo sophomore attacker Joey Rebelo was selected as the Western Water Polo Association Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league's office on Thursday.

Rebelo earns her first weekly accolade of the season and is the second Bearcat to be selected for a Player of the Week award.

Over the weekend, Rebelo scored 14 goals and 17 points helping her team go 4-0 at the Macalester Invite. In the first game against Ottawa University Arizona, Rebelo scored five goals on 5-8 shooting. In the second game against Macalester College, she scored one goal helping her team to a 5-3 victory. On day two of the tournament, the Bearcats played Virginia Military Institute where Rebelo scored three goals, and Occidental College where Rebelo secured five goals on 5-6 shooting.

Rebelo leads the WWPA in goals with 29 and is tied in first for points with 41. On the season, Rebelo's shooting percentage is .518. She is also getting it done on the defensive side and is sixth in steals with 12.
