LEBANON, Ill. – Starting off with the first of three games at home to finish the regular season, the McKendree Bearcats hosted the University of Missouri – St. Louis Tritons on Saturday, February 24th on Alumni Day. The Tritons led by four at the break and extended the lead before taking the contest 81-69.
McKendree had four guys record double figures in a contest that saw 11 different lead changes. Caleb Zurliene did a little bit of everything while leading the team with 18 points. He pulled down a team high eight rebounds, dished out an assist and blocked one shot. Off the bench, Hayden Meakes had 13 points on 50% from the field, along with two rebounds. Carson Parker and Joey Niesman chipped in with 12 points each with both shooting over 50%.
Staying on their average for the season, McKendree shot 28-of-53 for 52.8% from the field. They also shot just under 30% from beyond the arc and went 8-of-11 for 73% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will host the Lewis University Flyers on Thursday, February 29th with tip off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
