FORT WAYNE, Ind. - McKendree University men's volleyball fell in four sets to Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday night at the Gates Sports Center. The Bearcats move to 7-5 on the year and 4-2 in conference play.
Set one belonged to the Mastodons with a score of 25-20 and though the Bearcats would put up a tough fight in the second set, Purdue Fort Wayne claimed set two 26-24. The tables were turned in set three as the Bearcats won 26-24, but the Mastodons pulled away in set four, 25-23.
Redshirt senior setter Tyler Poulsen tallied another double-double on the season to lead the Bearcats with 36 assists and 10 digs while junior outside hitter Kevin Schuele added a double-double of his own with 11 kills, 13 digs, and two aces. Redshirt sophomore libero Yadiel Diaz was also in double-digit digs at 11. Three Bearcats grabbed four blocks for the match including junior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney, sophomore middle blocker Rolen Lively, and right-side hitter Nathan Flayter.
As a team, the Bearcats posted their highest number of digs yet this season with a total of 52 and an average of 13.0 per set.
