LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball faced Lewis University on Thursday night and fell to the Flyers 70-56. The Bearcats are 19-8 overall on the season and 15-6 against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents.
McKendree held the advantage over Lewis in quarter one, ending the first 10 minutes with a 23-17 lead. The Bearcats saw a slow second quarter offensively, resulting in a deficit of 40-31 at the half. The Flyers were able to outscore the Bearcats 30-25 in the second half as Lewis took the victory, 70-56.
Leading McKendree in scoring was junior guard Clare Breden with 17 points. Senior forward Naomi McDaniel was 7-for-10 from the field and 1-of-2 from the free throw line for 15 points in addition to grabbing nine rebounds. Senior guard Erin Golden added eight points for the night.
Up next, the Bearcats close out the regular season at home against Indianapolis on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. McKendree will celebrate eight seniors for Senior Day.
