LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball is set to play two Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association games this week. The Bearcats face Quincy University on the road on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. and Ball State University at home on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
McKendree has an overall record of 3-4 and a 0-1 record in the conference as they come off a win over Missouri S&T, 3-0. In MIVA standings, McKendree tops the digs category as the only team averaging double figures at 10.00 digs per set. Individually, junior outside hitter Kevin Schuele is second in hitting percentage (.468) after a .722 hitting percentage performance against Missouri S&T. Schuele is also third in digs, averaging 2.57 digs per set while redshirt junior right side hitter Nikos Xydakis is right behind him with 2.29 digs per set. Redshirt senior Tyler Poulsen is third overall in assists, delivering an average of 9.65 assists per set.
Quincy sports a 5-1 overall record and a 1-1 record in the MIVA to start the season. In all-time matchups between the Bearcats and Hawks, McKendree leads 14-5. The Hawks are first overall in the MIVA for blocking with an average of 2.41 blocks per set and second in service aces, delivering 1.82 aces per set. Opposite side hitter Raje Alleyne tops the kills column for the MIVA, putting down 4.18 kills per set while also ranking just behind Schuele in hitting percentage (.425). Libero Dominik Waigel is second in digs at 2.68 per set.
Ball State University currently sits third in the conference with an 8-6 overall record and a 1-0 record in the MIVA. The Cardinals are in the middle of the pack for many statistical categories but rank second in both assists (12.15 per set) and kills (12.89 per set). Outside hitter Patrick Rogers is top five in kills, averaging 3.59 kills per set.
