GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – McKendree University women's lacrosse played a chilly contest on Monday evening against Davenport University with temperatures below freezing for the entire 60 minutes. The Bearcats fell to the Panthers 10-6, dropping McKendree to a 3-5 overall record.
Davenport scored four early goals as the Bearcats trailed by three at the end of the first quarter. McKendree outscored the Panthers 3-2 in the second quarter but ultimately could not overcome the deficit in the second half.
McKendree's performance was highlighted by three goals from senior midfielder
Olivia Julian along with a goal each from senior attacker
Jenna Sugarman and senior midfielder
Lexi Helms as well as a successful free position shot from senior defender
Lauren Fischer.
On the defensive end, junior attacker
Emma Rhines and Julian caused two turnovers each. Freshman goalkeeper
Amber Hayden snagged 17 saves in the contest.
